It’s not really a stupid question, your answer is rather stupid. You just say: it falls vertically because it falls vertically. Good job at applying circular reasoning. You have provided no scientific answer to my question.
You don’t have any idea about the implications of this density-theory. Ofcourse I can see things are falling vertically, but your theory suggests that’s because the air underneath is less dense. But the air to the side is as less dense. Your theory needs to explain why it falls to the ground instead of to the side. If you think the question is stupid you completely lack scientific imagination.
I don’t suggest that something falls sideways. My question is: Why doesn’t it fall sideways? How does an object “know” what is vertical?

Introduction
Why do Flat Earthers insist there’s no such thing as gravity? Because if gravity exists,
- It would pull anything the mass of Earth into spherical shape. That’s why planets are round.
- It would keep the oceans on the Earth’s surface instead of having them flung away by centrifugal force.
The Earth rotates, and Flat Earthers often try to disprove this by pointing out that pouring water on a rapidly spinning basketball or tennis ball gets the water flung off. Clearly, they think, the same should happen to the oceans.
Units
Let’s review some basic physics. Newton’s first law is: an object remains at rest or moving with a fixed velocity unless a net force is imposed on it. In other words, you can’t change velocity without imposing a force. In mathematical terms:
f = m a
where f is force, m mass, and a acceleration. In the SI metric system, mass m is measured in kilograms, and acceleration a in meters per second squared–an acceleration of 1 m s-2 means velocity increases by 1 meter per second every second. So units of force must be kilogram meters per second squared (kg m s-2). Force in the SI is measured in “newtons,” where 1 N = 1 kg m s-2. Same thing.
Density
Flat Earthers say density accounts for why things fall, and buoyancy accounts for why some things don’t fall (e.g. helium balloons).
Ignore the obvious problems with this, like the fact that the density of the air decreases as you go up (away from Earth’s surface). That being the case, things should fall up, since the difference in density is greater going up than going down.
Instead, let’s just point out that density in the SI is measured in units of kilograms per cubic meter (kg m-3). This is not a unit of force. Difference in density? Still kg m-3. Subtract the density of air (1.225 kg m-3) from the density of a rock (3,000 kg m-3) and you’ve still got a figure in the same units (2,998.775 kg m-3). Wrong units. Density is not a force.
Buoyancy
How about buoyancy? Buoyancy IS a force! The equation for it is:
f = ρ g V
where ρ is the density of the medium, g the acceleration of gravity–how about that, you need a term for gravity in the buoyancy equation!–and V is the volume of medium displaced. Let’s check the units. Density ρ is in kg m-3. Gravity g is in m s-2. And volume V is in cubic meters (m3). Multiplying them all together, you get… kg m s-2, which are newtons, the units of force.
But consider that g term. Without gravity, buoyancy won’t work. Put a rubber duck in a three-foot ball of water in zero g, perhaps on the International Space Station, and it will not float to the surface. There’s no preferred direction if g = 0.
So density isn’t a force and buoyancy depends on gravity to work. And the Flat Earthers are wrong.

Again - apropos of nothing, perhaps, and a complete coincidence to this discussion! - I will point out that COINTEL teaches a technique called “anger trolling” when their agents infiltrate online forums - they put out insults in combination with unscientific “debunks” meant to make truther communities look embarrassing for even having the person in question as part of the community.
The insults then provoke honest truthers to the point of rage - which pollutes and obscures discussions, and also provides blackmail material if the truthers in question lose their own tempers so far back as to start making hostile or threatening posts towards the agent.

There is a non-trivial amount of evidence that at least the early NASA programs were faked to frighten the Chinese.
I also do hear some other very troubling rumors - to wit, that though space is real, it is possible that much of the Apollo program was indeed fake, and that humankind has still not landed on the moon with anything other than rovers.
The wild theories I heard in this vein at the time were:
- We haven’t actually solved the radiative shielding problem with regards to traveling too far outside Earth’s atmosphere and magnetic field. This is plausible to me. Cosmic radiation is wild stuff. It is absolutely capable of killing a human without the protective effects of Earth’s atmosphere and magnetosphere.
- The moon itself may, um, not actually be barren of sentient life. This is less plausible to me given the lack of surface water and so forth - but not entirely out of scientific reach either, as anyone who has read a majority of threads here knows I believe there may be nonhuman, intelligent, and hostile life on Earth already.
This is all stuff I put in the “vile hearsay” category. Any of it could be

Certainly I do not believe humankind’s satellites are fake, nor the International Space Station.
But I do repeat rumors on issues like this because it is my experience that the truth about any deeply classified lie starts out as the most vile of rumors, and remains in that category for decades until brave muckrakers and journalists really find out what went on.
The issue for me in trusting NASA and our lunar programs remains Lyndon Johnson. He was NASA’s biggest backer - and he was a lying goddamned crook who probably murdered his boss. I absolutely believe the Johnson Space Center could be hiding a lot of bad secrets and that Johnson might have faked U.S. space superiority at the time as a psychological force multiplier in Vietnam.
As usual, as long as Mаsons control our goverment, we are unlikely to get real answers on any of it - so my continued suggestion to the community would be that, rather than fighting endlessly, we all focus instead on getting representation in U.S. government that is not Mаsonic, and would undertake audits of all these problematic agencies that have been perverted from their honest use in serving the American people to peddle war propaganda instead.

Oh, and the other reason I don’t believe we’re getting the full story on this is that it’s quite likely that the Air Force has a secret, suborbital, nuclear-powered VTOL extreme high-altitude bomber/surveillance craft that they’re not disclosing to the public.
Say hello to the TR-3B “Black Manta” or “Aurora” - the infamous “black triangle” of so many UFO sightings. The four lights on the bottom are allegedly either nuclear-powered jet engines or some kind of even stranger and currently undisclosed antigrav technology. It is supposedly capable of omnidirectional flight, can stop and turn on a dime compared to conventional jet technology - and has a habit of going straight “up” when sighted until it is literally too small to track. 
Details on this thing are very sketchy indeed - but my own analysis is that if it really is a suborbital nuclear bomber, it can probably stay in the air for a very long time - just like our nuclear-powered subs under the Arctic - and can probably do both nuclear and tungsten rod bombardments from extreme high altitude or possibly even low Earth orbit as well.
If the U.S. space program is keeping this big a military secret from the public - and I do believe it is, based on some months of research on the issue - then a lot of the civilian space program could easily be a lie.
That implies some scary stuff - because if this is the real space program they’re not telling us about, and it is indeed military-grade nuclear-powered suborbital technology used for surveillance by the deep state, who knows what kind of other other space-age military deep state secrets they could be hiding from us up there?

Please try and understand this …. I know, its a challenge for you to understand much at all ….so, really TRY and understand that its NOT gravity … its THE THEORY OF GRAVITY. In this thread, there hasn’t been one single shred of actual evidence provided by anyone promoting the LIE that the Earth is allegedly flat.
Why is that? Because it’s a LIE, repeated by clueless, arrogant people who don’t know what they’re talking.
When someone lacks common-sense, honesty and good manners, they mistakenly believe if they shout loud enough they can continue to ignore all of the REAL evidence (Truth) that proves them wrong. All that really does though is expose their ignorance and arrogance to everyone else.
Anyone can observe the curvature of the Earth’s surface from the surface of the Earth, a task made particularly easy when looking out over the ocean on a calm day. Ships do disappear bottom first over the horizon, and once they disappear, no amount of magnification can bring them back.
The sun rises, arcs across the sky, an then sets at full diameter, where it remains completely out of view until the next sunrise.
Anyone who claims otherwise is a LIAR, regardless of whether they are merely ignorant (speaking of things they know nothing about) or whether they are being intentionally deceptive.

They believe (I don’t) that the flat earth is circumfered by an ice wall (the continent Antarctica on the globe). What’s behind the ice wall is another question which they have the wildest theories about.
