Or as I like to call it; “My Dinner with Osama”
Yes, I know, the poster is in German - but that’s because the movie was made in Austria and mainly released in Germany and basically NOT in the U.S. - even though the movie itself is in perfect English. But I guess the subject matter was just hitting too close to home for US audiences - literally.
It’s a good movie and it’s good entertainment, keeping you at the edge of your seat most of the time even though all you are doing is sitting in your seat and watching two people sitting in their seats. So it’s kinda like “My Dinner with Andre” in that it manages to make 2 people sitting and talking interesting - really, really interesting! And as such it does deserve 9 out of 10.
The reason it has a much lower rating on IMDB is because people take it for more than that and disagree with it. Just take it as what it is - a work of fiction (it says so itself after all - at least sort of). And you wouldn’t rate down an episode of the X-Files just because not everything it portrays is exactly that way in reality, right? So why do it with this movie?
My Dinner with Osama - I know he doesn’t look like him - looking much more like a businessmen than an Islamic terrorist hiding in some cave and brandishing an AK-47. But that’s the point.
That said, even though it’s of course fiction and at best a fictionalized version of real events, it’s not even a badly researched movie. They definitely did their research and it encourages you to do your own research. Basically that’s the message I got from it. It encourages people not to rely on what this movie portrays or what any movie portrays for that matter, but to look at things for themselves and form their own opinion and to do that with everything, not just with the subject of the movie.
But talking about the X-Files… Harodim is definitely NOT the best and most accurate movie about 9/11, cause that honor actually goes to the X-Files and their “Pilot” episode for their Lone Gunmen spin-off series. In which Muslim terrorists are framed for hijacking an airliner and flying it into the World Trade Center, but as the Lone Gunmen uncover, it’s really a ploy and a false flag attack by elements in the U.S. government itself and the CIA to have an excuse to start a war in the Middle East and increase arms sales. But there are no actual, real Muslim hijackers on the actual plane and instead they are using a device that was planted inside the plane to hijack and override the plane’s autopilot to control it remotely and make the plane fly right into the World Trade Center and the airline pilots can’t do anything about it.

Yeah I know - it’s your run of the mill X-Files conspiracy BS and probably THE most stupid and generic “9/11 was an inside job” theory that I ever heard. Except of course that that episode aired in MARCH of 2001!!! I actually watched it when it came out. And a few months later I was actually in New York around the time of 9/11 and many people in my tourist group saw the planes with their own eyes. But most other people of course saw it live on TV but thought it was just a movie because they just saw the exact same thing on the X-Files a few months earlier.
