The base on the west coast of Scotland also hosts the UKâs nuclear-armed submarine â fleet.

There is âno assessment to substantiateâ Israelâs claim that Iran has long-range missiles capable of reaching London, a UK cabinet minister has said.
Housing Secretary Steve Reed told the BBC there was âno specific assessment that the Iranians are targeting the UK - or even could if they wanted toâ, after the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said on Saturday that Tehran had weapons that could reach up to 4,000km (2,485 miles).
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu insisted on Sunday that Iran had the âcapacity to reach deep into Europeâ.
âBut I would also say that of course Israel is going to say this, because it is in Israelâs interest to broaden the war, to bring as many nations in on this war,â he told Broadcasting House on BBC Radio 4.

That bbc article gave me a headache.
It comes after it emerged Iran targeted the joint US-UK military base on the Chagos Islands in the Indian Ocean, around 3,800km from Iran.
Iran fired two ballistic missiles at Diego Garcia - one of which failed and fell short, while the other was intercepted, Reed said.
Then it goes on,
The longest-range weapon in Iranâs arsenal is thought to have a maximum range of 2,000km, far short of both Diego Garcia and London - even if fired from just inside the nearest Iranian border.
So Iran, whose missiles have been âdecimatedâ just decided to fire 2 missiles at Diego Garcia knowing fine well that they didnât have the capacity to reach.
If the bbc are telling the âtruthâ then instead of calling Iran a regime we would have to be calling them an idiocracy

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump said he had ordered the Pentagon to halt strikes on Iranian energy infrastructure for a five-day period in light of the positive talks.

It gets better. Just a day or two on from begging the Iraqi resistance for a ceasefire trump now says,
the price of oil will âdrop like a rockâ if the United States makes a deal with Iran to end the war. âŚ
Trump claimed the two countries are discussing 15 points to end the war, including plans for Iran to give up nuclear weapons.
Tehran, however, has denied claims that Iran has begun engaging in negotiations with Washington.
The Iranian parliamentâs speaker, Mohamed Bagher Galibaf, has repeated Tehranâs denial that talks took place between Iran and the US.
âNo negotiations have been held with the US, and fake news is used to manipulate the financial and oil markets and escape the quagmire in which the US and Israel are trapped,â Galibaf wrote on X.
Galibaf added that the Iranian people demand âcomplete and remorseful punishment of the aggressorsâ, and that officials stand âfirmly behind their supreme leader and people until this goal is achieved.â
Thereâs also some claiming that trump has suggested âthe Strait of Hormuz could be jointly run by himself and the Ayatollahâ
