So these books are by a man named Victor Manuel Gomez Rodriguez, who gave himself the spiritual name of Samael Aun Weor. He founded a kind of religion, which he called “Revolutionary Gnosticism”, based on the ideas of raising Kundalini and doing psychological battle with dark forces, and claimed to be a “Master of the Mysteries”. Most of his books are a kind of compilation of various types of esoteric knowledge combined with his own insights, he had a great rhetorical flair and some of his prose is very beautiful, but he is accused by his detractors of plagiarism from other esotericists.
These two books were translated from Spanish by a translator with little knowledge of the language, so perhaps they do not capture the flow of the original, also we can say that there are things within which some will find offensive. He was a very tough man, with a lot of anger and virulence towards those he considered the enemies of humanity, nonetheless his understanding of Capitalism was very clear, he understood how “the colossus of the North” AKA “the Great Beast USA” was extending its tentacles into everything and keeping humanity in this miserable dystopia in order to enrich corporations. His understanding of Marxism was less clear, unfortunately, he comprehended some things around Dialectics but did not grasp that Marxism for many is not a dogma but a call to action.
One thing is clear, that he was a South American, that he saw from a perspective which is shut down in Europe and America, from a continent marginalized and excluded by capitalism, caught up as it is in the neurotic universe of its own internal discourse and unable to grasp the free spirit of revolutionary Latin America. While some of his claims are extravagant, and some of his spiritual teachings likely to drive people insane, these two little books have a beauty to them, they are the thoughts of a sincere man who really wished for the world to be a better place (which is a lot more than we can say for many others who claim to be prophets).
They are given in the spirit of wishing to create mutual understanding, and for the benefit of the glorious revolution for Life, Bread and Peace.
