“You shall not make for yourself an image or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or in the earth beneath, or in the water beneath the earth”.
I wonder what the author meant:“or in the water beneath the earth”.
How do you understand this? What is your translation?
Does it have anything to do with Jewish cosmology?

I believe so. It’s speculated that the fallen angels AKA Watchers tinkered with the DNA of various creatures…including sea ones. That’s where we get the legends of sirens, mermaids, mermen, the Kraken, et. al.
