You do know that there are eight pawns for each camp on the front line, right?
I dont know how to play. I’ll go with light I guess.
No I havent played in 25 years and only played it for like a month but I guess I could figure it out but I wouldn’t be much of an opponent.
How can you not know?
It’s like two armies with two rows of fighters each, counting the two queens and kings respectively…
The front rows of both opponents are lined with soldiers also often referred to as pawns that can move only forward one step at a time after the first move.
The first move is where they can choose one of them soldiers to move either two steps or one step but only for one of them among the 8 front-line soldiers…
Lol not fair planning this all in my head without looking at a board either.
So the line up is like

The two rows above would be the light camp with eight asterisked pawns on the front line, that is, the line just above this sentence.
They are separated by six empty rows I believe with an equal opposing side, dark camp, with an equal amount of 8 soldiers and 2 rooks, 2 knights, 2 bishops that surround the king and the queen who are at the middle of the back row.
It’s like:
ROOK KNIGHT BISHOP QUEEN KING BISHOP KNIGHT ROOK
-–PAWN PAWN PAWN PAWN PAWN PAWN PAWN PAWN—
It’s then separated by six rows in between, and then,
-–PAWN PAWN PAWN PAWN PAWN PAWN PAWN PAWN—
ROOK KNIGHT BISHOP KING QUEEN BISHOP KNIGHT ROOK

Isn’t this just amazing, two simple sentences and one hell of a tune, right! 
DOTA, or Defence Of The Ancients, is another chess-like game that I used to play a lot, like 10 years ago maybe or even earlier than that.
It involves five heroes against five other heroes on a map that’s separated by a river of water in between, and that too kind of diagonally so.
Quite amazing actually, how inventive and creative the minds that put all of that together have been Created to be, and Maintained too at that!
I do not play anymore since it becomes too much of an investment after some time since one game lasts approximatively around half an hour or something, and sometimes even three times that!
