Currently remembering walking from Pietermaritzburg to Durban in South Africa during the year 2019 although I did get a car lift along the way if I recall correctly. 
I was actually in a rehabilitation center as in a doctor’s house for 30 days initially but I overstayed my visa extent and thereafter ran away from the house after having got stabbed in the neck near my jugular vein although it was but a minor scratch, thank God.
I did stay in Pinetown for 2 weeks nearly at a Zulu encampment along the way and been selling mangoes on the highway for some days too with a newly-made friend then called Lucas.
I also remember stopping to pray the Friday congregational prayer at a Masjid (Mosque) in Camperdown along the way…
And then from Durban, my aunt did buy a bus ticket to Cape Town for me for R700.
There I stayed for nearly two years firstly with an acquaintance met on Facebook ages before October 2018 (when I flew to South Africa), then on the streets and in shelters too (The Haven Night Shelter mainly) before I finally got deported back here to Mauritius in 2022 or something.
