I don’t know why, but every time I encounter these heavy multiverse and multi-reality narratives in films and series, I feel physically sick. Why do they insist on forcing this ideology down everyone’s throat? I already know Hollywood delights in twisting what is good and labeling it bad, and vice versa. Yet this particular narrative elevating multiverse ideology while casually calling its villains “God” and the like, strikes me as profoundly blasphemous and horrifying. All the meaningless Time-travelling, changing “realities” mixed with stupid ass clown conspiracies such as the “Mandela effects” it’s so repulsive. I also wonder whether these stories function as a parallel mirror of the illusions currently shattering in the real world, where people are finally refusing to believe that elites, mega-corporations, and the pharmaceutical industry are benevolent rather than corrupt. Perhaps such films help audiences cope with that dawning reality, or perhaps they deliberately confuse them even further.

 ![MV5BY2FlNjIxMDktMGYyZi00NjY3LWI4YjctYTcxNzc2MDUwYjZmXkEyXkFqcGc@._V1_FMjpg_UX1000_](https://canada1.discourse-cdn.com/flex033/uploads/vigilantcitizen/original/3X/2/c/2c0c90612f85cad609a9453ca2ce8061a71d2fc8.jpeg)

And dont get me wrong, I absolutely LOVED the original X-man/Spider man / Fantastic 4, etc I was OBSESSED with these films, I would consider them my **favorite** genre ever. But idk ever since Iron Man the entire Marvel franchise went down the toilet. But also, it’s just not Marvel doing it. Many other brands are doing it too, even Disney seems to be pushing this in almost all their TV shows…

 ![MV5BZTMxMmM1ODItMTZiMS00NjI1LWEwODctMjQ4ZjY4ODliNDI0XkEyXkFqcGc@._V1_](https://canada1.discourse-cdn.com/flex033/uploads/vigilantcitizen/original/3X/a/8/a8a54ed5729188f4497ac9184a3cbb302e4dda26.jpeg)

Consider how often these multiverse plots present infinite versions of reality in which moral absolutes dissolve and power is treated as the only constant. Such as in newer Superman films or Avengers franchise. This framing quietly trains viewers to accept that traditional notions of a singular truth or a sovereign Creator can be discarded without consequence. By casting villains as god-like figures who rewrite existence at will, the stories invert the sacred hierarchy and invite audiences to admire the very forces that usurp divine authority. At the same time, the endless branching realities on screen echo the deliberate fog of conflicting official narratives that have eroded public trust in institutions over the past decade. When citizens watch pharmaceutical giants and corporate elites exposed as self-serving rather than altruistic, the multiverse fantasy offers either a comforting escape into pure relativism or an additional layer of disorientation that keeps critical thought scattered. Because in RL the illusions are collapsing. In either case, the cumulative effect is the same a cultural conditioning that weakens resistance to the very powers the stories pretend to critique.

There’s only one God- the Christian God- so any other “gods” in films are not real..🙂
And for the record, the Christian God is often mentioned in a good way in many films and TV series, for example Star Trek-

An alien ‘god’ demands Kirk worships him but Kirk replies-“Mankind has no need of gods, we find the One quite adequate” (OST: 'Who Mourns for Adonais")
McCoy says 'Lord forgive me" when he kills an alien with a phaser blast that’s taken the form of an attractive human woman. (OST: The Man Trap)
The rebels on Magna Roma, a nearly perfect “Parallel Earth”, seem to worship the “sun”, which Uhura discovers is actually God’s “Son” Jesus. (OST: “Bread and Circuses”).
In the wedding chapel on the Enterprise we can see a sort of altar and some religious symbols, among them a cross (OST: “Balance of Terror”).
The computer M-5 states: “Murder is contrary to the laws of man and God” (OST: “The Ultimate Computer”).
Dr. Ozaba quotes from the Bible- “In His hands are the deep places of the Earth. Psalm 95, verse 4.” (OST: “The Empath”).
Edith Keeler runs a Christian mission and soup kitchen in New York in the 1930s (TOS: “The City on the Edge of Forever”)
There is a mention of a Christmas party (TOS: “Dagger of the Mind”)
The Caldos Colony includes a church or chapel and we can hear the attendees say “Amen” (TNG: “Sub Rosa”)
Sisko recites from the Bible to his son’s surprise. He also appears as a priest in Ben’s hallucination (DS9: “Far Beyond the Stars”)
Kasidy says she would like to have a priest to perform the wedding ceremony (DS9: “Penumbra”)
Captain Saavik asks Admiral Kirk for suggestions. He replies- “Prayer, the Klingons don’t take prisoners” (Wrath of Khan)
Picard celebrates Christmas with his family (“Star Trek Generations”)

> There’s only one God- the Christian God- so any other “gods” in films are not real.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already,
because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed.
But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God."
John 3:16-21

“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
Matthew 11:28-30

“All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out.”
John 6:37
.

For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men,
teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age,
looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ,
who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.
Speak these things, exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no one despise you.
Titus 2:11-15

that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.”
For there is no distinction between J\*\* and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him.
For “whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.”
Romans 10:9-13

Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand,
by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you—unless you believed in vain.
For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,
and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures
1Corinthians 15:1-4

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the J\*\* first and also for the Greek.
For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”
Romans 1:16-17

In more classic media I agree, to an extent. But the dynamic of the films from 2012 onward are more representative. It’s often about villainizing a singular ruling (?) entity who parallels or represents God/a godlike figure, with them being portrayed as evil, power hungry, dogmatic, etc..

In isolation I understand the narrative and how it can be interesting and compelling, and if done tastefully it’s no problem to me. But it is conditioning the viewer to then apply those feelings to their own spiritual beliefs and turn away from God.

There’s a more eloquent way to explain it but I’m in a hurry lol.

1- Riddick is struggling to drag the heavy power nodes to the ship so they can take off to escape the hordes of deadly flying creatures.
2- The creatures are afraid of the lights the group are carrying and stay well clear but then it starts to rain and the lights go out.
3- Riddick taunts the religious members of the group.
4- They take cover in a cave and see these glow-worms on the walls.
5- So they put them into empty bottles.
6- And carry on to the ship with the bottled glow-worms providing light to scare the creatures away.
7- And the ground is slippery from the rain, making it easy for Riddick to drag the nodes to the ship.
The film doesn’t say outright that God provided the worms and the rain to save the group, and leaves it to viewers to make up their own minds..🙂

Another interesting film that subtly features God is the Mel Gibson film “Signs”.
At the start he’s an ex-priest who’s resigned because he’d lost his faith after the death of his wife and because his young son has asthma.
1- An alien grabs the son and squirts poison up his nose to kill him.
2 -The boys uncle faces down the alien with a baseball bat making him let go of the boy.
3- then finishes it off.
4- Gibson carries the boy out and realises the poison hasn’t affected him because his lungs were closed by the asthma God had given him.
5- The boy fully recovers and Gibson gets his faith back..🙂

I don’t see how that’s problematic. They’re not portrayed as the supreme God / creator of the Heavens etc. They’re created beings that have dominion.

If you’re disturbed by that because you’re a Christian, even the Old Testament mentions and acknowledges the existences of other “gods” (Ba’al, Moloch, Chemosh, the Elohim, etc), but just holds them as lesser deities.

And all the villains you mentioned are all defeated and killed eventually.

There’s a better case to be made imo, which is that it’s disturbing that Thor is elevated to a Hero, because Thor is essentially the Norse Ba’al:

- He’s the strong son of the chief god, Odin. Ba’al’s the strong son of the chief god El.
- He’s the god of War and Storms, like Ba’al.
- He’s the Rider of Clouds, like Ba’al.
- He defeats the the primordial sea serpent Jormungandr. Ba’al defeats the primordial sea serpent Yam.

And yes, Yahweh shares all those same epithets.

> I don’t see how that’s problematic. They’re not portrayed as the supreme God / creator of the Heavens etc. They’re created beings that have dominion.

You mean they are not explicitly called Jesus therefore we can dismiss how they are intentionally framed as powerful cosmic beings who literally claim divinity, demand worship, and hold immense destructive power, qualities that exclusively belong to GOD. And you claim they are not portrayed as creator of heaven, yet lot of them are called creators of celestial places that are often referred to as the Heavens and the Realm Above in the films themselves. Nobody here is saying they call themselves Jesus or that they told Moses to depart the Seas, nobody is claiming that. But they are most definitely portrayed as God and called God in these films themselves and that alone is extremely problematic when it turns into conditioning by repeatedly exposing the audience to the exact same negative / dangerous themes, conditioning is a learning process where an automatic, natural response such as thinking, becomes associated with a stimulus through repeated pairing. If every time they demonstrate that these villains called “God”, cause extreme panic and anxiety, to other characters and masses in these films, the audience, especially children, are eventually going to have a negative reaction at the sound of the word God alone. No matter if they are aware of it, that’s how the subconscious works, no matter if they are christians or catholics or muslims, etc, especially since grand part of the audience is young minors, and does not have well knowledge of God.

I am disturbed as a human, not because I hold any particular belief. The Old Testament acknowledge the deities that are false Gods, yet none of those (Ba’al, Moloch, Chemosh, etc) are attributed as active or powerful universe creators, they are portrayed as wooden figures/statues that hold no life nor any power whatsoever unlike these films.

> [@ArtfulRevealer](#):

# Exactly as I previously explained, this is also problematic, God cannot be “defeated/killed” portraying characters as God in endless action films aimed at children and then murdering that GOD is delusional, grotesque and spiritually toxic because it conditions young minds to accept a false, finite view of the divine while desensitizing them to the desecration of a figure that is suppose to be the ultimate source of life and truth.

God is the uncreated Creator, infinite and supreme, not a mortal villain or a mythological figure as these hundred of films try to portray him, who can be overthrown by human strength or cleverness. Reducing God to a fight-scene boss who can be killed distorts the fundamental nature of the Creator, swapping the majesty of the Almighty for a fragile idol made in man’s violent image. When media directed at children normalizes the destruction of the divine, it subtly undermines their reverent awe for the sacred and replaces the eternal offer of redemption with a dangerous fantasy of human supremacy over the divine order. Then we wonder why are young people so lost, hostile, blasphemous and have no reverence to the sacred??? While the corrupt elite has a lot to do with that using their PROPAGANDA Hollywood machine. But you fail to see how any of that is problematic ? Weird… you most be new around here

Another film that shows God in a good light is the 1957 film ‘Spirit of St Louis’.
James Stewart (Lindbergh) apparently has no religious beliefs early on when he’s asked by a priest if he believes in anything and he replies with a smile “I believe in an instrument panel”.
1- He falls asleep halfway across the Atlantic.
2- And the plane begins spiralling out of conrol.
3/4 but a mirror on the instrument panel reflects the sun into his eyes and wakes him up.
5- and he climbs up to safety.
6- He hangs a St Christopher medallion on the instrument panel that somebody had given him before he took off, but the film doesn’t specifically say he now believes in God or not..🙂

Since we are an extension of the Roman Empire, these are modern interpretations of the old gods

The Flash - Quicksilver - Hermes = Mercury

Wonder Woman - Diana = Luna

Superman - Kal El - El = Saturn

It gets more explicit with Loki and Thor and Odin

When considering the origins of the name Kal while El simply meaning god, his name takes on a different meaning: strong man of tomorrow-god. Superman gets his powers from the sun(S on his chest stands for sun-man). He is Ra that fights Osiris nightly. Osiris is pale green, that is why pale green kryptonite is Sol-man’s weakness. He is the prototypical hero or Horus not the Saturnian god that traps people.
